Gair Abbud is a Dallas-based civic leader serving as Managing Director of the Greater Dallas Planning Council (GDPC), where he helps guide regional dialogue on economic development, community leadership, and the future of North Texas. In this role, Abbud leads organizational strategy, communications, and stakeholder engagement efforts, working closely with public and private sector leaders to advance thoughtful, connected development across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
Abbud’s work is rooted in a strong belief that the region’s continued growth must be shaped by intentional planning and active community participation. At GDPC, he plays a key role in convening diverse voices, from industry experts to civic leaders, to address complex challenges such as rapid population growth, mobility, housing, and long-term prosperity. His leadership emphasizes collaboration, clarity of vision, and a commitment to fostering meaningful connections between people and place.
With a background in landscape architecture, Abbud brings a design-oriented perspective to regional planning and economic development. He is particularly focused on how the built environment influences quality of life, advocating for communities that are not only functional but also cohesive and reflective of shared values. His approach integrates both technical understanding and strategic communication, allowing him to bridge the gap between planning concepts and public engagement.
He earned his degree in landscape architecture from Texas Tech University and further expanded his perspective through international study at the Universidade de São Paulo. These experiences continue to inform his work in one of the fastest-growing metropolitan regions in the country. He has also served in key civic leadership roles with The Real Estate Council (TREC), Downtown Dallas, Inc., ULI Dallas-Fort Worth, and 24HourDallas. Through his leadership at GDPC and ongoing civic involvement, Gair Abbud remains committed to shaping a Dallas–Fort Worth region that is forward-looking, inclusive, and grounded in strong community connections.
