The team at DallasMeetup is excited to announce Dr. Macario Hernandez of Dallas College is the latest Featured Networker debut joining DallasMeetup’s Transportation Cohort at Legacy Hall.
Dr. Macario Hernández became President of Dallas College’s Mountain View Campus in June 2024, making history as the first alumnus to lead a Dallas College campus he once attended as a student. Besides serving as campus president, he was appointed interim vice provost for the School of Education effective July 1, 2026, and currently serves as Dallas College’s aerospace and aviation sector lead.
Previously, he served as the inaugural Chief of Staff at UNT Dallas. As the aerospace and aviation sector lead, Dr. Hernández collaborates with industry, workforce, government, and educational partners to strengthen talent pipelines that support one of the region’s most important economic sectors. He guides strategic initiatives that align academic programming with industry needs while expanding opportunities for students pursuing careers in aviation maintenance, avionics, aerospace technology, and other high-demand fields. His work supports the college’s broader efforts to meet the current and future workforce needs of North Texas.
A lifelong educator and community leader, Dr. Hernández earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas, a master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his career as a bilingual teacher before advancing into educational leadership. As principal of Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School at Mountain View, he led the campus to national recognition by earning the National Title I Distinguished School award in 2018 and the National Blue-Ribbon Award in 2021, while consistently achieving the highest academic distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.
A respected community advocate, he has devoted much of his professional life to serving the greater Dallas community where he was born and raised.
