DallasMeetup Spotlight: Brooke Merrick

DallasMeetup Executive Organizer Brooke Merrick

DallasMeetup: Who are you and what is your day job?

Brooke: I’m Brooke Merrick; I am a Dallas native, rooted in my faith, with a strong intention of building community in every area of my life. My legacy thus far has been centered on building strong relationships, helping people find meaningful job opportunities, and encouraging others to be bold in their faith by loving others well and working hard with the gifts they’ve been given.

Professionally, I serve as a Business Development Manager for Core Personnel Staffing. I specialize in multi market growth within our events and hospitality division, where I’ve had the opportunity to expand partnerships with clients such as Texas Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas, the Grand Prix of Arlington, Formula 1’s Las Vegas Grand Prix Plaza, and more.

At the core of it all, my approach is simple show up, stay consistent, and look for opportunities to serve others wherever you are.

Why did you join DallasMeetup’s Executive Organizing Team?

I believe that God opens doors, and it’s our responsibility to walk through them with purpose. As a former Division I collegiate athlete at Texas Tech, I’ve always thrived in team environments that are efficient, welcoming, and rooted in community. That’s exactly what I see in DallasMeetup a strong organization with clear vision, great leadership, and a genuine desire to bring people together.

Joining the Executive Organizing Team felt like a natural alignment and another opportunity to spread light, serve others, and use the gifts I’ve been given in a meaningful way.

For someone attending DallasMeetup for the first time, how should they show up to get the most value?

I was raised on the principle leave every room better than you found it.

Show up with great energy and, if you can, bring a friend. Networking events should be both fun and fruitful, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself just be present and engaged.

Be intentional, get creative in how you connect, and look for ways to add value to others, whether that’s through a conversation, a connection, or simply offering a helping hand. The more you give, the more you’ll gain.

What cohort or event has been your favorite thus far and why?

I’m relatively new to the group, but the most recent Pro Sports Cohort was my first event, and it set a high standard. It was just as fun as it was productive, which is a rare balance.

I attend a couple of networking events each week, and for this one to stand out as my favorite among 100 plus events over the past year truly spoke volumes. The energy, the people, and the intentionality behind it made it a memorable experience.

What trends are you seeing right now in your industry or cohort that attendees should be paying attention to?

Staffing is a dynamic and ever evolving industry, with many variables that make consistent success challenging to maintain.

Having been in staffing for five years, one of the biggest trends I see is the growing importance of authenticity people want to work with and for individuals who genuinely care. Relationships are becoming more valuable than ever.

My advice pay attention to who truly has a heart for people, and whenever possible, choose local. Those are the partnerships that tend to last and make the greatest impact.
