DallasMeetup Spotlight: Baha Koseli

DallasMeetup: Who are you and what is your day job?

Baha: I’m Baha! Head of Public Sector for Medefy Health – a health benefits navigation platform that helps employers revolutionize their benefits offerings by empowering health plan members to find and use their health benefits — right when they need them. We simplify the complicated healthcare industry with real humans.

My focus is helping take one of the most frustrating parts of peoples’ lives, healthcare, and making it more accessible, transparent, and human-centered for public servants across the country.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, scuba diving, flying single-engine planes and photography. I’ve got a goal to visit all 193 UN recognized nations, and so far, have been to 105 of them.

Why did you join DallasMeetup’s Executive Organizing team?

I’ve had a base in the DFW area for most of my life and realized that Dallas was missing a group like DallasMeetup, bringing people from all industries, verticals, point in careers, and more in one room, for one goal, to meet other rockstars across the DFW area.

For someone attending DallasMeetup for the first time, how should they show up to get the most value?

Network, Network, Network! Regardless of the cohort or topic, come ready to meet many incredible people in a span of hours. Use the DallasMeetup platform as an opportunity to grow your network, while having an incredible time. I suggest people come, especially if they don’t know anyone going, it’s a perfect opportunity to foster new connections and grow your network!

What cohort or event has been your favorite thus far and why?

I’ve found something valuable with each cohort – but my favorite thus far, has been the CPG cohort – It was my first DallasMeetup as an Executive Organizer, and I saw the impact that DallasMeetup has on the DFW community – bringing the right people together in a meaningful way.

What trends are you seeing right now in your industry or cohort that attendees should be paying attention to?

Prices, premiums, and confusion increasing across the board. Healthcare plans are the richest they’ve been in history, but utilization in programs are historically low. This makes justification of spend in these programs difficult. Centralization and simplification can help increase usage, while decreasing overall cost to plans, and the best part, the employee has an advocate in their pocket, in their corner, during some of the hardest times in their lives.

Rising healthcare costs are pushing employers to move beyond traditional benefit structures and focus on actively managing spend through better navigation and smarter care decisions. There’s a clear shift toward centralized, tech-enabled platforms that improve the member experience, drive engagement, and help retain employees in an increasingly competitive workforce. At the same time, adoption of alternative networks and direct contracting is growing, but success depends on effectively guiding members to those options. Ultimately, organizations are looking for solutions that not only provide data, but actually influence behavior and deliver measurable outcomes quickly.
