Jonathan Muñoz of BNSF Railway joins DallasMeetup at Legacy Hall

Jonathan Muñoz of BNSF Railway

Help us welcome our newest Featured Networker from
BNSF Railway to DallasMeetup’s Transportation Cohort

Jonathan Muñoz has spent the past 13 years building a career at BNSF Railway from the ground up, beginning in frontline railroad operations as a conductor and locomotive engineer and now serving as a Manager of Operating Practices. In his current role, he supports safe and compliant railroad operations by providing real-time guidance on operating practices, rules, train handling, and complex operating situations.

Jonathan's connection to transportation began long before his railroad career. He started flying airplanes at age 14 and later gained experience across transportation and logistics through roles with FedEx and Ryder. Combined with his progression at BNSF, those experiences have given him a unique perspective on transportation, shaped by both hands-on operational experience and the responsibility of supporting the people who keep the railroad moving every day. They have reinforced his belief that high-performing organizations are built through operational excellence, strong leadership, and a commitment to developing people.

Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities, Jonathan has intentionally invested in building connections across North Texas business and community organizations while creating opportunities to represent BNSF beyond his traditional role. His involvement includes leadership and engagement with the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Hispanic community outreach initiatives, and service as President of BNSF Toastmasters, where he helps employees strengthen their communication, confidence, and leadership skills.

Jonathan is passionate about connecting individuals who may have little exposure to the railroad industry with the careers, people, and opportunities it offers. He believes strong community engagement helps develop future talent, broaden awareness of transportation's impact, and strengthen the connections between industry and the communities it serves.

At the center of Jonathan's leadership philosophy is a simple idea: success should create opportunity for someone beyond yourself. Whether supporting railroad employees, developing emerging leaders, or representing BNSF in the community, he believes leadership carries a responsibility to leave people and organizations stronger because you were there.
