DallasMeetup Spotlight: Tommy Brachey
Who are you and what is your day job?
I am Tommy Brachey. My day job is building deals, connections, and relationships in real estate and energy. I run Key Real Estate Consulting and Charlotte Land & Minerals, where I work with real estate brokerages, real estate investors, family offices, and business owners who want a clearer understanding of hard assets and how they fit into a long-term strategy. I also work closely with adjacent professional networks, including yacht brokers and private jet brokers, helping them incorporate informed conversations around mineral rights and energy assets when engaging with their clientele.
A big part of my lane sits at the intersection of real estate and energy. That includes deeded mineral rights, 1031 and 1033 exchanges, self-directed qualified retirement plans, and other asset structures that do not look or behave like traditional real estate. My reach is not limited to the United States. I have access to international networks involved in oil, gas, lithium, gold, and other rare earth resources. I spend my days educating decision makers and connecting people across real estate, energy, and capital so they can make informed decisions about where they deploy time and resources.
Why did you join DallasMeetup’s Executive Organizing team?
Because DallasMeetup is not a cocktail hour. It is an economic engine. I joined the executive team early because this platform creates real leverage. When you put high caliber operators, capital, and decision makers in the same room consistently, deals happen, partnerships form, and momentum compounds. I wanted to help shape that intentionally instead of watching it from the sidelines.
For someone attending DallasMeetup for the first time, how should they show up to get the most value?
Show up early. Stay late. Talk less. Listen more. Do not pitch. Build context. Be clear on who you are, what you are building, and which relationships actually matter. The people who win at DallasMeetup are the ones who treat it like a long game. One good conversation beats twenty shallow ones every single time.
What cohort or event has been your favorite thus far and why?
The Commercial Real Estate cohort stands out. Not because it is flashy, but because it is foundational. That kind of room is filled with operators who understand cashflow, risk, and long-term value creation. Developers, brokers, investors, and capital partners all speaking the same language. When that cohort shows up, you can feel that business is actually getting done.
What trends are you seeing right now in your industry or cohort that attendees should be paying attention to?
Two big ones. First, capital is getting more selective but also more creative. People are done chasing hype and are moving back toward tangible cashflow, control, and real assets they actually understand. Second, collaboration is replacing silos. The smartest operators are building alliances across real estate, energy, finance, and media instead of trying to do everything alone or staying in a singular lane. If everything you do depends on one lane, you have already limited your upside and magnified your risk. And lastly, if you are not building a network that compounds with you, you are already behind.
