DallasMeetup Spotlight: Melissa Phan
DallasMeetup: Who are you and what is your day job?
Melissa: Hi! I’m Melissa Phan—an Account Executive at APEX Group, a Diverzify Company, where we specialize in critical space solutions, hard surface care, and construction cleaning. My day-to-day is all about building relationships, creating strategic partnerships, and helping clients maintain and enhance their spaces. I love being out in the field, connecting with people, and finding ways to bring value to every project.
Why did you join DallasMeetups’ Executive Organizing team?
I joined DallasMeetup because I genuinely love bringing people together. There’s something powerful about creating spaces where conversations happen naturally, connections turn into opportunities, and people feel like they belong. Being part of a team that’s intentional about community-building and collaboration was something I couldn’t pass up.
For someone attending DallasMeetup for the first time, how should they show up to get the most value?
Come in with an open mind and a genuine curiosity to meet people—don’t overthink it! Focus less on “what can I get?” and more on “who can I connect with?” The best conversations happen when you’re just being yourself, asking thoughtful questions, and staying present.
Also—be confident! It can be a busy room and a little intimidating at first, but everyone is there to connect. If it helps, bring a friend to ease into it together. And don’t be afraid to introduce yourself first—those small moments often lead to the best connections.
What cohort or event has been your favorite thus far and why?
The commercial real estate–focused cohort has definitely been my favorite. It’s been a great mix of meeting new connections while also seeing familiar faces in a fresh setting. There’s a strong sense of alignment in the room, and the conversations naturally lead to real, meaningful business opportunities. It’s the kind of environment where relationships grow and deals actually take shape.
What trends are you seeing in your industry or cohort that attendees should be paying attention to?
In the AEC space, relationships have always been key, but there’s a shift toward being more intentional and strategic with them. People are focusing on long-term partnerships, collaboration, and finding the right fit—not just quick wins. I’m also seeing more women stepping into leadership roles and building strong networks, which is really exciting and impactful for the industry. As a younger female newer to the industry, it’s especially inspiring to witness and be part of that growth.
